Welcome to another week of Top Ten Tuesday! TTT is a bookish meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week bloggers are given a topic and encouraged to list their top ten of that topic!
Last week we went over the top ten books on our to-be-read list for winter (which face it, some we’ll never get around to and there’re wayyy more we’ll get distracted by). This week’s topic is Bookish Settings I’d Love to Visit. We had a similar topic in 2014, Places Books Have Made Me Want to Visit.
The House of Mystery- Constantine/Hellraiser
I watched the Justice League Dark movie with Constantine not too long ago and had to go dig through all my comics. I’m not sure if I can call the House of Mystery a setting or not. It’s a sentient and magical house; traveling where the owner wants, setting up traps for intruders, and has rooms that are forever changing.
I’ve always loved carnival/circus/fair settings for those trippy thrillers, and Caraval is like a strange take on Alice in Wonderland. The entire place being one big stage with live actors 24/7 like one big living theatre is also sweet!
Aokigahara Forest, Japan
If you haven’t read any of the many books, you probably at least heard of the movie that came out a few years back about Aokigahara, more commonly known as the ‘suicide’ forest. I’ve always wanted to go on a paranormal world tour and hit all the really haunted houses and places. Aokigahara is probably on the top ten.
This summer will be my 6th year going on a mission trip to Belize. Every year it gets harder to leave behind and the anticipation of going back starts earlier and earlier. I don’t leave until June, but I can’t wait to be back with my little slice of Mayan family.
Howl’s Moving Castle
A bit like my first choice; a castle that moves. It has magical doors that enters/exits to three different cities and a big meadow full of flowers and a small cottage, but the castle itself is almost always moving. I’d like to have one of these babies with a door in NYC, California, home, and a few other places to cut down on traveling expenses. 😛
