Welcome to another week of Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by the lovely Broke and the Bookish! TTT is a bookish meemee in which bloggers are given a topic each week and list their top ten of that topic.
This weeks topic is Top Ten Author Duos You’d LOVE To See Write A Book Together. Wow. My list is going to be a living & dead list, because face it; a mash up of some classical authors and modern authors would be more than awesome.
1. Edgar Allen Poe & Otsuichi
Poe was a mastermind of horror, and if you’ve never read a book by Otsuichi you’re missing out on one of the creepiest Japanese writers I’ve come across. They’re both well know for their short stories, so if these two were able to get together and make a book of short stories people would probably die of fright.
2. Gail Carson Levine & Diana Wynne Jones
Two fairy tale masters coming together? I think yes. Levine is known for works such as Ella Enchanted and Ever, and Jones has her infamous Howl’s Moving Castle series. Both add a hint of modern-ness to their otherwise medieval-ish worlds (Ella Enchanted is very modern in politics & Howl actually lives in a modern universe). I wanna shove these two authors together and see what pops up!
3. Kristin Cashore & Cornelia Funke
They both make amazing worlds of fantasy and characters you can just fall in love with. Cashore and Funke seems like and unlikely pair, I know, but Dustfinger from the Inkheart series and Katsa from the Graceling Realm series just so fit in the same world. It would be awesome to see what these two could come up with together.
4. Neil Gaiman & William Goldman
I’m thinking Stardust/The Princess Bride combination. Just stop and think on it for second. There now. Got it? Gaiman and Goldman. Is that enough said? I think that’s enough said.
5. Terry Pratchett & Douglass Adams
Neil Gaiman and Pratchett wrote a book together, but what fun would it had been to have a book by Pratchett and Adams?! Oh my, I would have loved it. A depressed sentient ship with the need to reproduce? A group of bumbling heroes destroying the universe in an attempt to save their home planet? Okay, I think I need this one now. Someone get on it!
